Notes
Satina’s notes for this concert are not clear. She initially indicates that this is the program according to information received from Mr Tillett. However, in a review she has found in Music Opinion, it was stated that Rachmaninoff also played the Bach-Tausig Toccata, a group of Russian works (Scriabin, Medtner, Borodin, and Rubinstein, perhaps the same as was played in Stockholm on February 12), but no Scarlatti. The later opinion then appears to be backed up by a pencilled note: ‘Correct – I was present. P Piggott’. LoC, Sergei Rachmaninoff Archive, ML31.R33, Papers of Sophie Satin, boxes 82-89.
