Notes
A note by Satina indicates that in regard to the Liszt Sonetto ‘B.V. thinks it was no. 104’. Satina’s notes also state in regard to the Chopin Ballade that ‘one source states F major, op. 38’ – it’s not clear what source this might be, and it would seem highly unusual given the frequency of Rachmaninoff’s performances of the Ballade no. 3 during this season. Satina believed that the prelude was C sharp minor, op. 3, no. 2. LoC, Sergei Rachmaninoff Archive, ML31.R33, Papers of Sophie Satin, boxes 82-89.
